Life drawing practice

Hey all!

So I have a Instagram if anyone in interested in following me there.  I put a lot of art up on that account, mostly my miniatures, and traditional artwork. The account is spearman247.  So head on over there and subscribe to see all the cool stuff going on over there!

Today, I have some figure painting practice. I did these in Photoshop, each one took about 20-15 minutes. Im really digging starting my digital paintings off like my oil paintings. Usually when I do an oil painting,  I will start off putting a "ground" on the canvas. This is done to help the paint "stick" to the canvas. Then, I will do a quick sketch in paint on the canvas, then start laying in the skin tones and values. I like to work using the ground as either the shadow tone or the mid value. Painting then becomes drawing on colored paper with a white pencil, and sepia tone, which I have always been comfortable with.

I decided to add the blue secondary light to the second drawing, and I like how it plays off the other colors! It was a fun exercise!
